Wyndi Kappes
Writer | Editor | Freelance Journalist
Hi, I’m Wyndi Kappes, a New York City– and Atlanta–based freelance journalist and editor covering health, wellness, lifestyle and culture.
Over the past eight years, I’ve written for both national outlets and regional magazines, spotlighting the people, innovations and ideas reshaping how we live and connect. I’m especially drawn to stories with heart, movement and purpose: the founder turning a personal challenge into a solution for others, the medical breakthrough changing family futures, the local neighbor making a quiet impact.
Previously, I served as an Associate Editor at The Bump, where I reported on health, family and social trends—from the formula shortage and developments in Black maternal health to the first gene-editing treatment to save a baby’s life. I’ve also been privileged to sit down with cultural powerhouses like John Legend, Lala Kent and Naomi Osaka to talk about trends, advocacy and what the next generation deserves.
Today, I’m happy to work in a freelance capacity that gives me the freedom to write for publications and companies like Savannah Magazine and Bark Technologies, while also serving as the Editor at Best Self Atlanta, a local health and lifestyle publication where I got my start and continue to champion inspiring Atlantans.
If you’re looking for an Atlanta or NYC journalist and editor with expertise in health, wellness, lifestyle and culture, I’d love to collaborate. Reach out to me at: wkkappes@gmail.com
